Besides from the visual improvement, pressure cleaning your pavers, is an important part of maintaining your investment. After awhile we may forget just how beautiful our areas were before they became covered with dirt and debris. Sometimes we can’t even tell just how much a cleaning is needed.
Accessing any problem areas is key. Any damaged pavers should be replaced. Any sunken areas should be lifted and re leveled. Any stains should be addressed and properly cleaned. After pressure cleaning it may be necessary to re sand using polymeric joint sand to help ensure the integrity of your pavers. Pressure cleaning and proper brick care is a wonderful way to rejuvenate the original beauty of your landscape project.
Here are images of brick paver cleaning, sanding and sealing. When we began you could not truly see just how badly the bricks were in need of a cleaning. The before image doesn’t look too bad, right? Midway through the pressure cleaning you can see just how much was hiding on the pavers. After cleaning and allowing them time to dry, polymeric sealer sand was swept across the entire area refilling the joints. Finally, the sealer was applied.
Sealing your brick pavers is a necessary step in protecting your investment. By sealing its surface you are creating a barrier which prevents dirt, debris, oil, grease, and any other foreign particles from being absorbed into the pores of your brick pavers. The sealer also helps enhance and bring out the wonderful natural colors. Depending on your personal taste there are different options from High Gloss to give that always wet look ,to the No Sheen for a subtle clean but protect surface.
